John Baucher is an acclaimed photographic artist with over 16 years experience in the commerical and community sectors in Northern Ireland. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and he has been the recipient of a number of awards from the arts council of Northern Ireland.
Johns interest in people and their stories is his real area of expertise and this knowledge and experience can be evidenced in his latest book 'Nou la - We are here'. The book tells the story if the Ironmarket in Port-au-prince which was rebuilt within a year of the devastating earthquake which struck Haiti in January 2010.
Formal portraits of the store holders are interspaced between documentary photographs from around the market and is a sympathetic and truthful document of the power of regeneration and hope. The portraits are enhanced by testimonials from various storeholders now working at the market.
The book includes a statement from Bill Clinton and is a 72 page full color hardback costing £30, with 10% going to Haven, a charity which builds houses. There is a limited 200 of 500 available.
